The 2019 Public Safety Conference Outlook

With the new year fully underway, now is the time to plan for attending conferences in the coming months. Here is a chronological run down of some of the top conferences on DELTAWRX’s radar. We hope to see you at some of these great events, as well as the many smaller state and regional conferences that are not included on this list.
The International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) is from March 4 to 8 in Las Vegas, NV. This major conference includes 7,000 professionals in the communications technology field and opportunities to learn about the latest products and equipment, workshops, short courses and trainings as well as networking events.
The International Public Safety Consortium 2019, previously known as the International CAD Consortium (ICC), is from May 19 to 23 in Virginia Beach, VA. The conference has a heavy emphasis on emergency communications topics, but also includes sessions on records management systems for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, video recording devices and other topics.
NENA 2019 is from June 14 to 19 in Orlando, Florida. The annual NENA conference is focused on 9-1-1 policy, technology, operations and education issues and offers programs for communications center managers, supervisors and training officers. It also kicks off with a 5k charity run/walk and includes a blood drive, demonstrating NENA’s commitment to giving back.
The National Sheriff’s Association Education and Technology Expo is from June 15 to 19 in Louisville, KY. The conference includes a day dedicated to corrections and detention and sessions on school safety and security, youth and juvenile justice, traffic safety, drug enforcement, government affairs, court security, the impact of social media on criminal investigations and the Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) program, among other topics.
The NFPA Conference and Expo is from June 17 to 20 in San Antonio, TX. This conference includes technical meetings, educational sessions and an expo tailored to fire safety professionals and policy-makers. Nine of the educational sessions are provided in Spanish.
IPSA Symposium 1: Safeguarding First Responders’ Mental Health is in Mesa, AZ from June 26 to 27. This special educational training event is for all first responders (law enforcement, corrections personnel, firefighters, EMS, 9-1-1 dispatchers) and allied emergency responders. The training will provide attendees with resources, tips and strategies for handling mental health consequences as a result of work-related exposures to natural or man-made disasters.
APCO 2019 is from August 11 to 14 in Baltimore, MD. APCO International is focused on bringing together public safety communications professionals. The annual conference includes professional development tracks for frontline communicator, leadership development, communications center management, emergency preparedness, response and situational awareness, industry products and tools, NG9-1-1 and emerging technologies, cybersecurity for public safety communications, radio and wireless communications technologies and cutting-edge developments.
IPSA Symposium 2: Natural and Man-Made Disaster Recovery is in Washington D.C. from September 18 to 19. This educational training symposium is will shed light on available resources and ideas to consider as new strategies for rebuilding your communities after natural and man-made disasters.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference is from October 26 to 29 in Chicago, IL. This law enforcement conference focuses on training, networking and exhibit hall education. Sworn officers, first responders, and civilian employees of public safety and government agencies and members of the armed forces can register for complimentary access to the Exposition Hall.
