Mobile technology options are evolving at a rapid pace as an increasing number of public safety agencies adopt the use of smartphones and tablets. The public safety application software market has responded to this trend, with many vendors rolling out light applications or “apps” suitable for these devices. Our presentation will provide an overview of the emerging market for mobile solutions, discuss what these trends mean for communications between dispatchers and public safety field responders, offer guidance regarding what to look for when purchasing a new mobile application and recommend strategies for managing security in this environment.
APCO 2018, APCO International’s annual conference, is a major event for public safety communications officials ranging from frontline telecommunicators to communications center managers to public safety communications equipment and services vendors.
