The City of Boston’s Department of Innovation and Technology engaged DELTAWRX to develop a comprehensive Strategic Technology and Implementation Plan for updating and replacing its aging public safety information systems.
Key tasks for this engagement included conducting a benchmarking and market trend assessment, developing current system and business needs assessments and creating a comprehensive strategic and implementation plan to guide the City with modernizing its public safety technology portfolio.
Based on DELTAWRX’s recommendations, the City replaced the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system used by the Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services Departments, better leveraged an existing Fire Records System and is in the process of implementing a new Police Records Management System (RMS).
DELTAWRX worked with the City and the public safety agencies to create an IT support plan, delineating agency and central IT responsibilities, developed detailed job descriptions and identified gaps in current skills sets. We further created a change management plan that documented key business processes, identified process changes that will occur with the implementation of a modern CAD/RMS system and created an action plan to address these changes.
The City retained DELTAWRX to provide consulting services during the RFP development, proposal evaluation and selection, contract negotiations and implementation phases of the project.
